 ARCHITECTURAL DRAFTING AND DESIGN I - 70178 (7017-7018) IDOE# 5640 

Grades 11-12 (Three credits per semester) Prerequisite: Computers in Design and Production 

Architectural Drafting and Design I will provide students with a basic understanding of the design skills commonly used by architectural drafting technicians. This course teaches various aspects of residential design and site planning. Also included are sketching, creating and interpreting construction documents, and methods of geometric construction. Students will gain valuable hands-on experience with 2D AutoCAD and 3D Revit. They will be expected to complete several projects relating to command topics. Topics include: 2D and 3D drawing commands, coordinate systems, editing commands, paper and model space, inquiry commands, layers, plotting, text, and dimensioning. 

ARCHITECTURAL DRAFTING AND DESIGN II - 71278 (7127-7128) IDOE# 5652 

Grade 12 (Three credits per semester) Prerequisite: Architectural Drafting and Design I 

Architectural Drafting and Design II presents a history and survey of architecture and focuses on creative design of residential and commercial buildings in a studio environment. The course covers site analysis, facilities and space planning, conceptual design, proper use of materials, selection of structure and construction techniques with a focus on advanced drawing and design features of CAD programs.
